About Me Posted by: | March 28, 2010

My name is Chi Anh Dao. I’m a Vietnamese who loves to eat, cook, bake and talk about food.

I’m a Vietnamese born in Russia who grew up in Germany, Taiwan, Vietnam, and lived a good 8 years of my University & early working life in Singapore. In Fall 2010, I finally returned to Hanoi, Vietnam and restarted my life as a twenty-something Vietnamese eager to bring my experiences back home and to live with my lovely parents again. It was and still is, a big change for me in all aspects. But one thing didn’t change. My love for cooking & baking.

I decided I wanted to try to cook as many dishes as possible before moving back to Vietnam, where I was uncertain I would be able to find the same ingredients to cook different cuisines (and to my relief, i do find everything I need in Vietnam!). I started sharing the dishes on Facebook and many friends requested me for recipes and asked me to host dinner parties. So the blog came along for me to share my culinary journey and transition from my life in Singapore back to Vietnam.

After only 1.5 years of blogging my kitchen adventures, Door To My Kitchen has gained many readers in Vietnam and eventually was featured as one of best Hanoi blogs of 2011 by The Word Hanoi magazine. With the blog fueling my passion, I found my true calling and destiny with food. My dream started to take shape.

I set off to pursue my “kitchen” dream and found many people who were supportive of her passion in Vietnam, from blog readers, social media users, to magazine editors and producers. In November 2011, together with business partners, I founded Kitchen Art Store & Studio to sell kitchenware, tableware, baking tools & ingredients, as well as holding cooking/baking workshops and shooting cooking shows at my Kitchen Studio. Kitchen Art will be a real-life extension of my blog and passion, and with that I hope to give people more enjoyment and success in their own Kitchen, and of course, a better dining experience at home.

For a more detailed recount of the pursuit of my dream, you can read my past entry Door To My Dreams and Diary Of A Food Entrepreneur or The Unofficial Guide Of A Food Entrepreneur .

More about me today (written in May 2014):

“Chi Anh is a crazy, hardworking entrepreneur in the emerging food and kitchen business in Vietnam. Whether she’s managing her kitchenware and cooking class business Kitchen Art, running the popular urban cafe the KAfe in Hanoi, writing her cookbooks, or filming her own cooking videos, Chi Anh is a multi-tasking hustler who does not stop at pursuing her dreams. With an overflowing to-do list everyday, challenges and setbacks lurking at every corner, she struggles to balance her crazy life as a passionate entrepreneur to remain inspired, healthy and centered. With the blog Door To My Kitchen – The Unofficial Guide of a Food Entrepreneur, she records her daily struggles, lessons and inspirations for fellow entrepreneurs or simply anyone with a busy work life to have a more fulfilling life in both career and personal life. Though the blog was first created and known for being a food blog, Chi Anh now hopes to reach out and tackle broader topics including business know-how, fitness, spiritual wellness, self-confidence, lifestyle, love and even pursuit of happiness, but of course, all in the name of her love for food and life! This is a blog that she herself wish existed when she started out in the professional world in her early twenties, and it will continue to serve both herself and readers as Chi Anh’s journey towards her dreams continues. As Chi Anh does not have a lot of time to share her views and experiences with people on the media or at events as much as she would like to, this blog will serve as a practical guide and communication platform between Chi Anh and readers who would like to live the fullest life, overcome obstacles and have a peek in the personal growth of this crazy entrepreneur.”

Maybe you will invite me as a guest on your show one day?
